Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
“Everything we do is designed to encourage development, learning and the sharing of ideas; both within the school and as an outreach to other schools and places of learning.

Continuing Professional Development is a key element of the work of Teaching Schools and is often referred to as Joint Practice Development (JPD),  involving all staff and organisations in the education sector across the UK. The George Abbot Teaching School Alliance is developing a range of CPD opportunities for both teaching and support staff.

FREE TSST/Subject Knowledge Enhancement Programmes 2018-19

We currently run a number of  Teacher Specialist Subject Training/Subject Knowledge Enhancement programmes including:

  • Secondary Maths
  • Secondary Physics
  • Secondary French

With the exception of the French course which is being offered as twilight sessions (running from October 2018 - March 2019), all of the above are being delivered over 4-6 days, which have been spread throughout the first two terms of the 2018/19 academic year.

The aim of each course is to enhance the subject knowledge for non-specialist teachers, those returning to teaching after a career break, HLTA's and TA's, looking to teach an additional subject or enhance their own subject knowledge.  The courses offer face to face sessions, lead practitioner and specialist coaching support, inter-sessional tasks and access to an on-line forum. For further information contact; jblackwood@georgeabbot.surrey.sch.uk or call on 01483 888047
