Welcome to George Abbot
Teaching School
One of the first UK teaching schools and leading the way in educational system development, George Abbot Teaching School provides excellence in both professional development and educational innovation for schools, their pupils and workforce.

Our credentials:

We are delighted to be awarded Regional Lead School for TSST in the South/South London area as well as being successful in our bid to run TSST Maths, Physics and French Subject Knowledge Enhancement in the Guildford area ourselves. More detail on our programmes can be found by clicking here. If you are in the South/South London region and have any questions about the TSST courses in your area or are interesting in running a TSST course please contact Jblackwood@georgeabbot.surrey.sch

Whilst Maintaining ‘Lead School’ status for CPD, ITT and Performance Management we also focus on school-to-school support, leadership development, succession planning and talent management. More information about our areas of focus and expertise are shown on the Big Six below.

Our Accredited Provider status for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) is a key element of our work, and is leading the way in delivering the national goals to develop school-based ITT.

To assist our external contact, we also work closely with a number of organisations as strategic partners and Alliance members.

Our contacts and networks:

Building on an impressive portfolio of work with the Guildford 11-19 partnership, the East and West Guildford Confederations we work with educational specialists to support the professional development of the whole school workforce at all career stages.

Since September 2011 we have been part of the Surrey Teaching Schools Network: a county-wide group incorporating all Teaching Schools in Surrey with the intention of developing a coordinated approach to meeting the professional development needs of all Surrey Schools and educational system development.  For more information on the network please click here.

The future:

In March 2012 we confirmed our first eight Specialist Leaders of Education, and have gone on to appoint many more SLEs during the past few years to work with other schools and their middle and senior leaders.
